Meerkats

We have been learning how to write animal reports. I have chosen a part of my meerkats reports to animate.

                          TURTLES

Turtles are one of the six types of reptiles such as lizards, snakes, crocodiles and tuatara.                

Food: Their diet depends on where they live.  Wild ones eat bugs, plants and sea turtles eat jellyfish, fish eggs and plants.

Live: Freshwater turtles live in shallow water and make burrows on land or dig into the sandy bottom of a lake. Sea turtles spend all their time in the sea.

Turtles have a very big shell. They have a lower shell and an upper shell. They have a beak they use for eating. They move with their short legs. Turtles have tough waterproof skin.

Predators: Turtles nests are destroyed by birds who eat the eggs. They use their shells to protect them. People hunt them for their shell.

Some species of turtles are rare because they are hunted for their shell.

pet day

Today was Pet Day.  This was my favourite animal because it's so fluffy. (By the way his name is Fluffy.)
Most of the animals were sheep and lambs. But there were lots of cats/kittens. There were a couple of guinea pigs and some bunnies. Everyone had a great day!

How bees make honey

We have been learning about explanations and bees. I created an animation using google slides. Then I used screencastify to explain how bees make honey.

This week we have been learning how to write poetry. Here is some poems I have written.

Partly Cloudy

We watched a short video called Partly Cloudy. We had to write descriptive sentences using adverbs as sentence starters. Here is my writing.

Partly Cloudy
Softly the birds placed the baby down. “Waaa!!” cried the baby. Oh a baby. Happily the sun laughed as the birds delivered the baby animals. The cloud created life of baby animals.

Sadly the black cloud looked up at the pink clouds. Snap! went the crocodile. Cough, cough, cough. The bird flapped his burnt wings. “Aaaaa!” cried the bird. “Aaaaa!!!” cried the bird again. “Oh ah, sorry about that.” “It’s OK.” He was off with the bag. “I’m back” shouted the bird. Suddenly a shark formed. “I’m not delivering that,” shouted the bird. “I’m going to a different cloud.” The black cloud gained anger and sadness and sent down thunder and rain. ROAR! ROAR! Suddenly the bird came back with a bag. The bag was filled with armor and a helmet. “Nah i’m just kidding,” said the bird as he put on his armor.
“Come on” shouted the bird, "I need another animal to deliver."

Basic Facts

We recently completed our basic facts test and these are my goals.

Basic Facts Stage 4: I am good at grouping within 10, tens that add to 100 and Doubles/Halves to 20. I need to work on stage 4 subtraction.

Basic Facts stage 5

I am good at addition and my 100’s and 1000 and times tables (2x 5x and 10x). I am not good at and need to work on division, subtraction and grouping within 100's.

My writing goal is...

My writing goal is to:

Add more descriptive language to my writing.

Write more than I do now by adding more detail.

My maths

I have being working in a small group and we have being learning how to solve problems.

My cup did not turn out like I wanted to. We made cups from clay because we find clay at the edge of the river.

Sea/Moana animals

I have been learning how to speak Maori and what some of the sea animals are in Maori.
I have liked trying to figure out the words for animals and reacting to whether I am wrong or right.

Narrative Writing

We have been learning how to write narratives. Here is a narrative I wrote.

Once upon a time just as the sun was going to sleep a tall young girl with a plane walked into the green meadow. The big old oak tree sat in the meadow. She threw the plane into the air. It did loops and twists.  

Suddenly it crashed into the soft leaves of an oak tree. She wondered about how she was going to get it down. Luckily her mother with long wavy hair and a beautiful face was watching from the kitchen window. She came out and climbed the old oak tree and rescued the plane.

Unfortunately the plane was broken, so they walked home and super glued it back together ready for the next fine day.

WINTER

Winter blows its cold icy breath everywhere.

The early morning frost is crunchy and white covering the green grass.

The loud wind howls in the freezing air like a stray dog hungry for a bone.
Tiny snowflakes flutter down to land on the frozen ground,

covering everything with a white sparkling blanket.

The trees become bare, admiring the view.

Heavy rain falls from the dark grey sky, pounding against the soggy ground.

Chilly bitterness in the air, winter is here.

Autumn: DRAFT

Haaaa the nies worm mornings in Autumn Bye-bye Summer and hollow Autumn. As the seasons change the world is changing.The best thing I love about Autumn is all of the colors and the leaves, especially the leaves.

Volcano Erupting

Here is my moment in time writing about a volcano erupting.

Wow!! The volcano filled with lava exposed like a geyser. The lava slowly came down. The lava was all over the volcano.  Burning hot rocks came crashing down the volcano. Lava was streaming down the volcano like a river. After the lava cooled down the lava turned into obsidian.

Unboxing Day

 Wow! It was unboxing day. I couldn't wait until the countdown. “10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0, yaaaaay!!!” everyone shouted. It was time to open the chromebooks. I ripped my box open and there was my chromebook. The teachers said they were fully charged. And it was. “Hi Magic” “Hi Mummy” we both said with excitement. First, we all learnt how to sign in. Then we learnt how to access our drive.
